Atlanta, Georgia - What happens when a raid at a gay bar goes too far? A federal lawsuit. Patrons of the bar were critical of the aggressive tactics of police who detained and frisked individuals without even a semblance of reasonable suspicion. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - The city has agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by an individual who was arrested for flipping off an officer. Cops should learn to respect the First Amendment rights of people and not use the power of the badge just because someone gave them the finger. [Read here]
Richmond, Virginia - A federal corrections officer who took inmates from the prison camp to a nearby motel for sex was only sentenced to 40 days in prison. I wonder if the corrections officer was a male and the prisoners were female the penalty would be harsher. There is such a double standard in these matters. [Read here]
Minneapolis, Minnesota - A state Court of Appeals ruled that an undercover officer went to far when he fondled a masseuse during an undercover prostitution sting. The cop should have stopped once there was an officer of sex for money. But, the cop played along for too long. [Read here]
Frankfort, Kentucky - Call me skeptical but authorities have found that the census worker who was found hanged in the woods with the word FED written on his chest committed suicide but tried to make it look like a homicide. Why? Oh, didn't Jill do that on Knots Landing so she could set up Valene. Hmmm. . . [Read here]
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - The chairman of the state Republican Party filed a lawsuit against elected leaders for engaging in fraudulent campaign finances practices. The chairman claims that the fraudulent practices caused him to lose elections. [Read here]
